Job Description

Juniper Level Botanic Garden is a world-class botanic garden that boasts a collection of more than 30,000 different plants. It is also the home of Plant Delights Nursery, Inc., a mail-order perennial plant nursery that offers unique, rare, well-grown and properly named perennials to passionate gardeners around the world.

 

Juniper Level Botanic Garden is seeking a full time 40hr/week Grounds Technician & Small Equipment Operator starting immediately.  This is a permanent, benefitted position.  Primary responsibilities include manual landscape related tasks and equipment operation.  Qualified applicants must be safety-conscious, physically durable in any outdoor situation, have a good work ethic, follow directions, maintain valid driver’s license, and work well with others.  This is an outstanding opportunity to gain a broad range of experience in a world-class botanical setting.
Duties:

 

  • Operate the following equipment safely and efficiently
    • Hand tools
    • Skid Steer:          Caterpillar 236b
    • Tractor:                John Deere 2032R
    • Lawn Tractor:     John Deere Z900 series 54”
    • Rental Equipment

 

  • Responsible for all grounds maintenance tasks including but not limited to:
    • Mowing
    • Build and turn compost
    • Earth moving/excavation
    • Materials loading/staging
    • Road maintenance and repair
    • Maintain extensive storm water management system
    • Equipment fueling and preventative maintenance

 

 

  • Assist in botanic garden landscape construction projects
    • Botanic garden infrastructure installation
    • Storm water management installation
    • Stonework
    • Garden bed construction
  • Assist with general facilities maintenance projects as needed
    • Basic carpentry
    • Basic machine maintenance and repair
    • Irrigation system wiring and troubleshooting

 

 

Qualifications:

  • License: Drivers (Required)

 

Compensation: $32,000 – $36,000 (Depending on experience)

 

Employee Classification: Permanent Full Time (Exempt)
